COE-INTERIOR

The main goal of designing the new COE's interior was to create a space that would satisfy customers, not just as a refuse truck,

but as a truck for general purposes when sold to a broader market.

CONSIDERATION

  • Cab needs more interior lights for the drivers especially during the morning.

  • Drivers need more storages.

  • Drivers actually have their snakes and lunch in the truck. (Space for having food)

  • 3rd person seating needs to be considered.

  • Drivers need additional AC/Heating unit.

  • The shape of overhead console need to be changed to satisfy the ergonomics.

  • The exposed structures need to be covered to enhance safety, durability, and the aesthetic aspects of the space.

PHASE 1

  • Inner Panels were designed with multiple parts in consideration of manufacturing time and cost reduction.

  • New seats are added.

  • Spaces for rear windows are turn into storages. (Sliding door, Netting, Speaker)

  • Multi-functional center seating is added. (Seat / Storage / Plate)

  • Overhead top console is added.

  • Half Octagon dome (Light, Storage, Speaker, Extra Screen)

  • Ceiling AC unit is added.

  • Indirect lighting on the ceiling.

  • Indirect / direct lighting strip on the sides.

  • Extra netting on the back of the seats.

OVERHEAD CONSOLE

  • An octagon-shaped center console with speakers and a long light has been implemented.

  • Apply the current overhead wing storage from LNT to reduce tooling cost.

  • Aimed to provide variety in the arrangement and shapes of the buttons and speakers, while ensuring that the symmetrical elements were not compromised.

CENTER SEATING & REAR WALL PANEL

  • Designed to serve two functions: as a center seating and a radiator cover.

  • Two cupholders and a doorless storage are placed on each side.

  • A bigger storage is placed on top of the frame.

  • Lab seatbelt is placed on the side.

  • The overall frame of the LNT is taken as it is for the stability of the body and cost reduction.

  • The space where the rear window used to be is replaced with doorless storage.

  • Considering the situation in a car with a lot of movement, doorless storage was conceived.

  • More storages are placed in the space created by the 6” extension.

  • Symmetrical storage cabinet ideas considering manufacturing method and cost.

  • Net and pegboard idea is applied.

PHASE 2

  • General structure of the current LNT cab, which is developing into COE, is preserved as much as possible.

  • The size of all parts was scaled by focusing on the size of the COE cab and the occupant's ergonomics.

  • The number of parts was minimized in consideration of manufacturing cost and period.

  • A bridge section has been added to the ceiling.

  • The specifications and features of the center seating have been changed.

  • Extra lighting and speakers have been added.

  • The rear wall panel storage has been redesigned to be more organized.

OVERHEAD CONSOLE

  • Size of “Octa” is reduced from length of 36” to 26” for better ergonomic.

  • A bridge section connecting the 'octa' and rear wall panel has been added, creating more storage space and room for extra buttons.

  • The cup holders and small storage previously attached to the center seat have been removed, making the width longer horizontally.

  • The seating pad has been changed to a folding design, allowing the use of the plate underneath.

  • Battle logo padding has been added to highlight the brand.

  • Another storage space has been created in the area above the center seating.

  • Speakers have been incorporated into the rear wall panel to build a surround sound system.

  • Sliding doors have been added to the panel's storage space, creating a more organized and secure storage solution.
