CENTER CONSOLE
As part of the project to upgrade the interior of the LOE truck in the Battle Truck line, I designed the center console.
Since the LOE truck is primarily used as a refuse truck, I focused on maximizing driver convenience, ergonomics, and efficient use of space.

RESEARCH
Investigated the current issues and potential improvements in the LOE's interior. A large doghouse was required to cover the radiator, occupying the center space, which made it difficult to use the area effectively. Various problems were identified, such as the poorly placed storage compartments, buttons, and cup holders, which did not account for the driver’s range of motion. A cleaner and more practical design was needed to create a more functional space.
IDEATION
Before starting the design, I had to establish the overall dimensions for the new center console. This involved considering the placement of all components, seat sizes, the position of the occupant's arms while driving and working, as well as the location and size of the cup holders and storage. The overall height needed to be determined based on the occupant's arm position and the location of the dashboard in front, so I considered three different height levels.

The center console was designed as a single, cohesive unit, resulting in a clean look without separate attachments. The console not only covered the doghouse but also created an armrest for the occupants.
In the area where the dash, doghouse, and armrest connect, I incorporated storage, cup holders, a joystick, and buttons, making them easily accessible for the occupants.

Through multiple design team meetings and discussions with engineers, the design was refined, and the center console gradually took on its final form.
